Weakest with Stan. Although I admire Andy Prieboy (he took over when Stan left) the only one that I can listen to is Seven Days in Sammystown. All the rest are pretty dire.

The first WOV LP I heard was Dark Continent and I was blown away. I got the Index Masters next and again was impressed but when I got Call of the West I was back in heaven again. Factory is fantastic and Tomorrow was another theme of mine:
"I'll do it tomorrow, that seems like a pretty good idea to me".

Call of the West isn't as quirky as the previous ones. Richard Mazda produced and smoothed out their sound a bit.

Here's an unreleased version of Richard Mazda singing Museums from Seven Days in Sammystown when he was being considered the new vocalist for WOV.

for Wall of Voodoo, that is a tough choice
I like the Index Masters but again it more like an EP than a full record
I like Dark Continent especially Back in Flesh and Call Box
I especially like Call of the West because the music and the lyrics were more polished and more of a variety of music

as far as the Fleshtone, Pete Zaremba ia my mom's cousin. I remember him coming over for dinner when they toured with the Go Gos in 81 in Los Angeles and he came all the way down to the OC to visit with us
For the record, I am the only famliy member in the west coast to attend a number of their concerts in the Roman Gods-Hexbreaker era
I remember Peter filming segments for IRS'sthe Cutting Edge for MTV back stage

Wow thanks for that--I almost listed the Mazda LP in my Top 10, but it's like 11 or 12 depending how I would list Section 27/Tom Robinson.

As far as WOV goes--love Dark Cotinent over Call of the West, even though I like the Call of the West LP, I give the edge to Dark.

Are these Index Remastered, the EP that was released on Index Records with the Tiajuana dog on the cover? Long Arm, Gramma's Phone, etc.???

I have not spoken to him in a number of years
last time that I spoke with him was on their last tour out here in the late 90's!
I look for their gigs when they come on the west coast but I should try to say contact them through their official web site

I met Stan Ridgway at his opening gig for the Big Heat tour at the Roxy back in 85. I was with my cousin (not Peter) and a record exec wanted my table and I was able to get his back stage pass.
Got to meet Stan after the gig.
Also saw WOV with Andy Prieboy when 7 Days in Sammystown came out and met him at an Oingo Boingo concert at the Palace.

oldnewwaver, I met Stan Ridgway last summer. Stan is a really nice guy and very down to earth. Similar to your story, I was fortunate enough to go backstage and meet him. He's coming back to the east coast next year and I am really looking forward to seeing him again. He puts on one heck of a show!

I lost this LP either when someone stole a crate of my records from this party I was DJ-ing in 1988 or the small flood I had in my garage in 1989, the album got wet and destroyed somehow...

I used to play the crud out of it--I'm looking for it too... I shall look for it on-line, it may be out there...

Went home for lunch and started the upload to Z-Share. Will be done by the time I get home. Will post this afternoon.

Will do the WOV rarities tonight after trip to hospital to check on parental unit's spine fusion. She was in massive pain last night. Two things I hate in life...seeing your kids in pain or seeing your parents in pain. I would have gladly traded places with her last night.
