Hillary Duff does Depeche Mode

New Wave/Punk music, culture, genres, memories. '80s revivalism and other relevant topics.

wow. I guess I better not even mention one of my favorite recent borrowings of an 80s classic--the song Everybody by Britney Spears, a bonus track on the Japanese edition of her Blackout CD that shamelessly samples Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics, and even includes Annie's vocals at the end. Oops! I did it again. I mean, oops, I mentioned it.

If Hilary Duff wants to dress like a tramp and do 80's songs, why doesn't she pick something interesting like Dildo Desire by Killer Pussy. I'd love to see that video.

Great, another pretentious tw_t mangling classic songs. How about a song from another Hilary, "Drop Your Pants" ?

Y'know, Johnny Cash's version of "Personal Jesus" is really good. It puts the song in a whole new context.

Ugh. I pre-emptively gagged before the video even loaded.
Man, all the vocal processing, auto-tune and voice-doubling on that track. Gross and deplorable.

It's not really a cover, She just sample PJ to death like most hip-hop artist do.. Another DM sampled track Strange Love by that rapper Ja-rule of the movie Fast and the Furios..

It's great to have young Artist used DM, helps them reach out the younger gen z, but Music-wise it's just horrible.. but She looks Good :)

The electro dance duo "Infernal" also sampled Strange Love for their song "I Won't Be Crying". They are HUGELY 80s influenced. They also did a cover of Laura Branigan's Self Control, and did a dance cover Of Ultravox's Vienna that blows me away. I love Ultravox (yes, the Midge Ure years), but Infernal made one of their songs I was never particularly fond of into one of my favorites.

Well, look at the bright side. She's one step closer to the
"Playboy" spread!

It looks like Hillary is trying to change her image and get out from under Disney's thumb. Kind of like when Debbie Gibson changed her name to Deborah and put out that hideous 3rd album.

As for her take on the song; I would rather hear that than some of the crap that's out there these days.

I just noticed Night Time was re-released. Kind of jumped out at me when I was at Waterloo Records.

I don't know how I posted that thing about Night Time....that's an old post from like, 5 months ago I'm sure.

But anyway...

Depeche Mode should probably get used to being sampled. There's no way "World in My Eyes" won't be sampled one day...
