Of course not. My only point - again - was that these educated newsmen probably knew they'd get a spectrum of reactions to the cartoon, from the credible ("whatever") to the not credible (Sharpton). I'm just not buying the Post's indignance like "[i]How[/i] could people possibly go there?" Come on, you [i]know[/i] somebody's going there, whether they actually found it provocative (Sharpton) or you just found the situation provocative because you knew some dumbass would find it provocative (motors?). So (assuming you think the cartoon refers to Obama) filling an effigy of the President full of lead is ok. Just don't associate him with a primate.

Do any of these knee jerk reactionaries allow for the possiblity that the cartoon actually lampoons The Congress- the ones who actually wrote and passed the Stimulus Bill?

Of course it lampoons the Congress. Considering every stimulus package has been an outright disaster it's a good joke to make. Presidents don't even write their own speeches much less actually sit down and draft legislation. Once again, I saw the cartoon..laughed...got the joke and moved on.

It's not even the first time Travis the angry chimp caused a problem. Evidently this owner liked to have the chimp ride around in the back of a pickup truck. A few years ago a kid threw a rock at Travis and he jumped from the truck and took off after him. He was running around in traffic and police had a hard time getting him under control.

But hey..y'know?...pickup trucks, traffic, police cars...that's a 200 pound chimp's natural environment.[}:)]
