Basic math

Postby enzfan » Sat Mar 21, 2009 9:52 am

Went and purchased a couple pizzas at Papa Murphy's today and the total was $20.12. I hand the guy at the register $21 and he rings it in as if I had given him the exact total, he stands there for a few seconds looking dumbfounded as to how much change he owes me because the register didn't tell him. Dude has to get out a calculator to figure out it's 88 cents. Do they not teach basic math in schools anymore?

12 cents? WTF is that? We're dealing in the jillions and gazillions of dollars in this day and age. I'd just reach into my wallet and hand you back a dollar so you'd leave me alone and I'd stop thinking about this "math" thing. Fuck math[}:)]

Papa Murphy's????

Don't they have any Papa Anthony's or Papa Angelo's?

And as far as the math goes, I'm sure it's Obama's fault. [}:)]

No way. He's very committed to raising math competency scores in all 57 states.

Basic math is hardly even needed when running a cash register anymore. The little screen displays the amount taken in and the change that may be required. They just look at the readout ! It's embarrassing, IMO.
