Actually bpdp mentioned Present Tense first. And as soon as I saw this thread, I thought to myself SHOES!

But after reading everyone else's choices....my head is spinning. I can't pick just one, now.

Can someone defines what "power pop" is? I always thought that Blondie's "parallel lines" was a good example of this genre, am I wrong?

I think some of Blondie's songs qualify as power pop - Dreaming, Pretty Baby, Slow Motion, I'm Always Touched by Your Presence Dear, Fan Mail. Others may disagree on that though.
Blondie was always so diverse in style though that I'd hate to pigeon-hole them as a really defined genre as power pop.

After listening to some of the files offered in the other powerpop thread I kind of see there were two distinct camps - the british version that was very 60's influenced, and the american version that was more punk influenced - or relied more on a guitar sound.

I agree with Cubby . Cheap Trick "Heaven Tonight" is a great power pop album . I would also add there self titled album too and while I'm at it I'd like to add there "In Color" album .

And once again when I think of Power Pop I initially think of skinny tie wearing four piece bands, blasting out songs under 3 minutes long to a 4-4 beat with jangly guitars.

While many of Blondies songs were power pop, they mixed too many genres (surf, 60's, spy, reggae, disco) into their sound to qualify has a pure Power Pop band.

I guess I'm a Power Pop Purist.
