Actually I'm fed up with ebay, oftentimes there are accomplices who raise the bid when they see that someone is hooked. I think, I will just buy from Amazon, I'm not fond of casino![:D]

You'd guess wrong. I'm incredibly cheap, and half the time, don't even want to pay the shipping to buy a piece of music over the internet -- never mind the price of it itself. Most of the some 30,000 albums in my library set me back in the vicinity of free to 2 bucks.

Works the other way, too. When I sold "Desert Moon" on ePay 6 or 7 years ago, I had no idea there was any interest in it on CD -- I think I started the bidding at .99 cents -- and when it went for a ridiculous amount, I just felt guilty. I always wondered if the buyer felt stupid when it got rereleased a few years later at a budget price.

I'd like to know where you get your albums--if what you say is the case, than it seems you rarely buy albums retail--which I think I can safely say does not apply to the majority of posters here. Perhaps then you don't know that feeling when you find something you've been after for a long time, and even though it may be expensive, you buy it anyway. It's a treasure to you and that's what matters. It also might explain a lack of empathy for the person in this case.

Where did I not say you were not entitled to your opinion? Don't like an band/album? Fine. As I say one man's meat, etc. But the implicaton in your post is that anyone who would spend a great amount of money for something you don't like is a joke (your words). I simply feel that just because I don't like a band/album I wouldn't have the temerity to call them a "joke" for spending a lot to get it. It's their money and their perrogative. I've no desire to get into a pissing match about if Rites of Passage is a "great" LP or not. As others have said here, everyone has their opinion and the "how good is this band" argument always comes down to opinions. I just wouldn't demean anyone else about their decision to devote their resources to something they like, that's all. This includes you. You don't like Rites of Passage. I disagree, but don't feel that you're a "joke" for feeling as you do.
Last you'll hear from me on the subject.

Geffen promos of this have recently sold in the $60 range on eBay. What gives?

Going Up,Up.....
http://www.ebay.ph/viItem?ItemId=4829998722

Actually, the seller lives less than 40 miles away from my place. I emailed him asking if I could get it directly from him, in case I would win the auction, he didn't answer, although it's current practice here to save shipping cost.

The point is, the more a seller warns that it's not a CDR, the more I have second thoughts about a CD! What " From The Original Masters" means? A limited pressing? A bootleg done properly?[:D]

It's obviously a bootleg. Is $540 a record for a freaking bootleg? And why are the Geffen promos only going for $60 or so?

Edited to add: actually I vaguely remember the Vitamin Z website mentioning that the people who run the website pressed some RoP CDs some years back. Maybe that is what this is.
