[Grunch]

Simple Minds earlier unreleased LP is superb. Borders on the punk/post punk sound quite a bit. Like all their early material, favorite tracks perhaps Love Song, and In Trance As Mission.

I'd highly recommend the unreleased LP, it is well worth seeking.

I always liked "Sparkle in the Rain". I wore the album out.

That's why I prefer Sons and Fascination over New Gold Dream. To me, NGD doesn't sound experimental at all. Not that I love all experimental music. OMD's Dazzleships, which a lot of hardcore fans fawn over, does nothing for me. I think it's a terrible album, although it does have some tracks I like (such as Of All the Things We Made).

But having said all that, I prefer Mind's Once Upon a Time over their first three albums, and I like OMD's Crush more than ... hmm, probably it is my favourite album of theirs.

Hmm, where can I get more info? I took at quick look at Dream Giver but didn't see it.

[/quote]Grunch might be talking about the album "Our Secrets Are The Same", which EMI refused to release in 1999, but was finally released in '04 as part of the "Silver Box" collection.

Not the 1999 recording. I refer to their late 70s unreleased LP, which is GREAT. Recordings from 1977-1979.

The Silver Box set is definitely something to look into.... the versions of Love Song , sweat in Bullet are INSANE...meaning really different from the LP

One of the most beautiful albums of the 80's. I can listen to Someone Somewhere in Summertime and Glittering Prize over and over and never get bored of it. Beautiful instrumentation and excellent vocals.
