<br>1. American Psycho- Bret Easton Ellis- twisted and wrong and nearly ruined for me by a movie that was horrible
2. End Of Alice- A.M. Homes - another sick story by my favorite author

Ew! Ew! Ew! [xx(][xx(]
I was about to say, "Coop, you are one sick fuck," but in the spirit of the season I'll change that to "Gee, we have very different tastes in literature, don't we?" [:D]
I am 100% anti-censorship but if I were on a library board or similar, I would be very torn about "Alice."
Ah well, different strokes.
P.S. Don't tell Philly what this book is about.[;)]

Wow! thanks for the kind words [:D] [:D] [:D]
Actually, philly and I share the same feelings on the matter.
I realize, with the choices above, some may get the wrong idea about me!!!
I think the fact "Alice" was written by a woman changes the perspective completely and her writing style, particularly here, is compelling.
Here are some reviews on End Of Alice:
"A. M. Homes has attempted to write a kind of updated version of 'Lolita', borrowing from Nabokov superficial motifs, images, and narrative strategies. The novel she has written, however, has nothing else in common with 'Lolita' and everything in common with Nabokov's definition of modern pornography, namely, a lubricious and single-minded pursuit of sensationalism and sensation."
New York Times Book Review - Michiko Kakutani (02/23/1996)

"'Alice' cannot be tossed off as another 'American Psycho.'...Homes shows a knack for intertwining two characters' pathologies."
Time - Ginia Bellafante

"A literary serial-killer novel, by turns sensational and clever, smutty and powerful...a lurid but weirdly arch page-turner."
King
