Even though there weren't a lot of U.S. radio hits, I'd say Parallel Lines from Blondie qualifies, especially in light of the popularity of One Way or Another for commercials, & Heart of Glass showing up on every disco compilation under the sun.

I don't know man. If I look at it really critically (and hey, what's a good discussion if everyone agrees), I can't say I'd put in the likes of Black Celebration, Speaking in Tongues, or With Sympathy. "Resound" to me comes in all-caps...RESOUND!...to sound loudly and with thoroughly broad fame. I bet if you listed the 3rd through 5th most popular tracks on those albums, even many new wave fans wouldn't immediately be able to pick the album. Maybe it's attributable to regional differences. Yaz...no question, I don't even blink. Cars...ditto. Golden Age of Wireless...yup! Rebel Yell...like it or not (NOT!), unquestionable. Some others? Meh...IMHO.

I guess it must totally be attributable to regional differences. With the exception of maybe the title cut to Black Celebration and Here is the House, all the other BC tracks listed along with Speaking in Tongues and With Sympathy got serious airplay out by me. The Psychedelic Furs' Mirror Moves and Echo and the Bunnymen's Porcupine fall short of my personal "half the songs are instantly recognizable" rule but I can see how they may fit the bill for others.

"Planet Claire", "Rock Lobster", and "Dance..." were on the debut album, not Wild Planet. Add "52 Girls" and "There's A Moon in the Sky (Called the Moon)", so the debut album should pass muster.

I think the Violent Femmes' debut should qualify, with "Blister in the Sun", "Gone Daddy Gone", "Kiss Off", and "Add It Up"

The Cars should have another album on this list: Heartbeat City. It's got "You Might Think", "Drive", "Magic", "Why Can't I Have You", and "Hello Again". I think the title track also got airplay.

And finally, I'd rather not talk about them, but Culture Club had a huge amount of success with "Colour by Numbers", which had "Karma Chameleon", "It's a Miracle", "Miss Me Blind", and "Church of the Poison Mind".

I'm seeing a lot of questionable inclusions on a few of these lists. Like marymarv suggested, "Heavy radio airplay. Iconic, high profile, eighties music achievements." Can't say that the Furs "My Time", AFOS "Man Made", The Cure's "Six Different Ways", or Dolby's "Radio Silence" ever got any kind of rotation on MTV or my local radio station back in the day. Could be a regional thing, but which reminds me of that 'one hit wonder' thread from a while back. Anyway, here's my inclusion:
