I see where another staffer is trying to take the baby bullet for Edwards and claim he is the father, was this woman doing everyone working on his staff? Yet just a month ago he was meeting with her at a Beverly Hills hotel where her and the baby were staying. Funny he says he will take the dna test to prove he is not the father yet the woman refuses to have the test done on the baby. A friend and fundraiser for Edwards just got the woman into a three million dollar home recently. Nice hush money payoff.

As someone who originally supported Edwards, I'm downright disappointed, and at least relieved he's not the candidate (given that, I wouldn't have cared otherwise and probably still voted to him, once it was down to the issues and my concerns of this election--especially after eight years of GWB. I don't care-- Likewise for McCain or Clinton or Livingston and all the others--except maybe people like Larry Craig who vote against any civil rights for gay people, etc. while doing what we know he did , of course, or Spitzer who was branded as a man of legal integrity including supposed to pursuing against prostitution rings, I hate that level of hypocrisy!)--given that Edwards is only a few steps with regards above purity than Gingrich right now and that's frightening. (And for the record, none of them were getting a thrill over choking their mistress--probably the most bizarre of 2006 stories--even more than sex chats with male interns).

Given that, George W. Bush is an example of our modern presidents of being faithful (No, even with NE being right on Edwards, I still don't buy the stories about him and Condi ). Somehow fidelity does not necessarily demonstrate model leadership. And given the stories we now know about FDR, Eisenhower, and Kennedy--it's low on my list. The only reason it matters as we learned from the Clinton impeachment trial, there's still idiots out there that make a big deal about it, that you can't run for office, if you do. Given that, chalk many (not just Edwards) who will now never run for office (and are much less of a schmuck than him). That's what's most sad about this story.
