I think I'm in pretty good company when I say "Crash" is one of my least favorite League albums. I remember loving "Human" and excitedly picking up "Crash" only to be really disappointed overall. But there are definitely a handful of solid tracks on it that, to me, have stood the test of time. Obviously "Human" was fantastic, but "Love Is All That Matters" was an instant favorite. "Are You Ever Coming Back?" and "The Real Thing" are also excellent and sound more like classic HL. Even "Love On The Run" is pretty good. No surprise that the last 3 were actually written by the band, whereas the bulk of the rest of the album was provided by Jam & Harris.
Nice to see them include the North American only (?) 7" Edit of "Are You Ever Coming Back?"! Someone at Virgin/Universal knows what they're doing. The original 1983 "I Love You Too Much" has always been a top favorite of mine, and while I do have the Dub on a few CD's, it's great to see it included here. It's weird and wonderful!
The sound quality on all of the digital singles has been fantastic. I too am hopeful all of this thorough back catalog activity could point to a CD singles box set!
If they continue on this trajectory with the digital download singles, I expect we will start to see "Romantic?" singles in 2 weeks time. Since both singles from that album were released as CD-Singles back in 1990, I'm not sure there's any treasures to be had. Would be nice if somehow the William Orbit remixes of "Heart Like A Wheel" could be made to sound less muffled, but I think those were just poorly done from day one, unfortunately.
