Original Rock Lobster?

Discuss hard-to-find or out-of-print New Wave and '80s Alternative, and share a few songs along the way.
NOTE: requesting songs that are entirely unrelated to the genres discussed here or easily found on CD is strongly discouraged and posts will be enforced as needed.

Well, since so many peeps seem to want to check this out, I've thrown it up on my webspace for everybody:

<a href="http://home.comcast.net/~newwavefan/RockLobster.mp3">The B-52's - Rock Lobster (Original Version)</a>

Personally I prefer the LP version, but this early version is certainly interesting. It's faster, has slightly different lyrics and more stripped down instrumentation and vocals. It's almost like a demo version.

Thanks fritzb, I haven't heard this version since Dr. Demento played it back in late '79 or early '80. I must admit I like it better than the polished up lp version.

I always liked the Lp Version Rock Lobster. I never like those 7" radio edit version of any songs. I hated when radio station would never played Lp full version of any song.

Thanks fritzb! While it's not exactly the same song that we all know and love, it's great to see how "the lobster" evolved.

Now.......does anyone have the original version of the flipside "52 Girls"?
