Globalization......for or against ?

Postby phillyidol » Sat Dec 11, 2004 6:36 am

The whole walmart thread is just a peek at the bigger question of globalization. I expect you guys to have a calm talk about the issues (like we have in the past-haha). The reason I made this thread is because I do value all of your views even if I don't agree with them. I find you all have good points on all sides of issues. I have my view on globalization( and I think I share it with Jimbo) But I want to hear your views. Lets not call names or get mad even if this is much bigger than walmart or even the president. I just had friends visit me from Canada. We had a great talk on everything and I really like these people. We put aside our countries and spoke as people, about everything. (imo-if everyone in the world talked face to face I think we would have less problems) ( that and if I ruled the world it would be a better place.. Vis ME AS YOUR RULER!!!) Anyway, what do you guys think? (about the world not me)

hoo boy....this worthy subject really affects me; I don't have as much time this morning to get into it....except to say that i am very very suspicious about this trend. It's unstoppable, I realize--and it's a natural progression of market forces. I guess

Most of the people that denounce "globalization", usually cannot even define the term, so I will start off with this definition from the International Monetary Fund so we are all coloring on the same page. If anybody would have a hand on "globalization",

I think this thread is a loaded one and people are staying away because of the history of fights over such subjects. (subjects? You will all be my subjects)Anyway, globalization is a fact. It is scary to us because we are seeing the very start of it and w

I'll come out and just say it.
Globalization saves lives.
Globalization feeds starving children.
Globalization cures disease.
Globalization prevents wars and reduces human suffering.
Globalization is irresistible.
Globalization is the invisible hand

PhilyIdol this is for you. I wasn't going to post, but you seem so dissapointed. I've already had it out with so many neo-cons on this subject, I'm burnt out.

Great post Jimbo. Yours is defiantly an optimistic outlook. In the spirit of humanity i

Thanks for the input Pat. No doubt there are alot of downfalls with a new world order. Jobs will be lost, hell ways of life will be lost.

Swampthing, well-stated ![:)]

yes, globalization had its noble intentions ( much like Communism; when Karl Marx wrote Communist Manifesto, comm. was supposed to be a good thing!). however, as is usually the case, what is actually happenin
