McDonald's

Why are there never any flies at McDonald's? Is it those air thingies when you walk in? Are flies just smarter than humans? Has anyone ever seen one? Flies, not fries. :)

I usually just go do drive-thru just in case there are flies flying around. Lucky for me I haven't found one in my food.

My McDonalds story.

I worked at McDonalds for exactly 3 days in 1983. This is back when only teens worked at McDonalds. I don't think there was a single person over the age of 18 working there except the Manager and Asst. Manager. This says a lot ab

Swampthing, you're just a rebel. Do somethign "different"?? No assembly line work for you!

My McD story involves the oldest standing one in Downey CA, the second one ever built. Back in '81 or '82, I was concerned to hear of a shooting there since my f

I miss the styrofoam containers and the gold foil ashtrays with the "M" embossed onto it. I would take stacks of those home with me. The charged me 35 cents for an extra BBQ sause the other day. I always bite into little pieces of bone in the hamberger me

Good story myirwin! Keep the stories coming people.

BTW - When I'm in Cali I love to go to In-n-Out Burger. Proof positive you can provide cheap food with good service (and they probably treat (pay) their workers better).

MyIrwin,

So your a business minded person with an MBA. Please explain to me how it is that one company, for example In-N-Out Burger, can provide fresh fast food with good service, pay fair wages and remain profitable, while McDonalds can't, or won't.

You guys should check out Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser) for some eye-opening facts about McD's business practices. Answers to Swampthing's questions are in there. Fascinating read!

I don't know how much bidness I know Swamp - I paid my fees and got my B's. I don't think greed is the key driver. I think being beholden to the market is indeed part of it, but even moreso maybe just sheer corporate momentum keeps things the way they are
