Here's the Loreal commercial (or at least the music for it).
I searched the forum and it seems that the general concensus is that the music was created for the commercial specifically.

Just heard Interpol's "Untitled" on a Golf Channel interview of Mike Weir. Weird but it worked surprisingly well. I'm pretty fond of this post-punk influenced song.

And it's quite sad when you can't convince anybody that you KNEW Nicola Conte's "Bossa Per Due" before some marketing geek at Toyota put it on air. No, no, really! [B)]

The best for me is still the Lee jeans commercial using Air's "Playground Love". Anyone else dig this? It starts with a car chase at night down by the docks. A young man and woman are trying to escape. They finally do, then ditch the car into the ocean. He fumbles around realizing he's forgotten something and dives into the water to retrieve it. She asks in French what the deal was. He shrugs and they walk away together...as you see his soaking wet English-French dictionary in his back pocket. That is freakin brilliant!

Freakin' brilliant indeed.
But the ad was for Levis, not Lee's.
That was another song I looked up and tracked down. Mmmm...

I just heard the Cars ~ Hello again. It is really not for a commercial but rather for the promotion of Nick at night --the Roseanne show, Fresh Prince etc.

There is a motor oil tv commercial (I think it is Mobil 1) that is ripping off Jonathan Richman/Modern Lovers "Roadrunner". It sounds just like the song but it's different enough so that they can't be sued for plagiarism. For those of you who don't know, "Roadrunner" is a song about driving around in your car.
