I remember that Ray was the owner of Spize or at least Spize II. I also remember Steve was a bouncer and a guy by the name of Tommy Campbell was also a bouncer. The crazy thing is that alot of the old group had "club names" and didn't use there real names. I just found my old friend Tim Cody. He is the DJ at Subculture. He use to date my friend Annmarie. My boyfriend at the time was the morning DJ for WDRE.

yeah, Ray owned the first incarnation and then when Bobby left we shut down for awhile and Ray opened II on his own...Big Steve was the doorman for the first club and the second for awhile...Tommy doesn't ring a bell, might have been after I left. The DJs at Spize while I was there was Richie, who's brother Chris spun in Spize II, and a few who's name's escape me...

Hey,

This is Chris [whom my buddy Wayne mentioned that I spun at "the lamer Spize II" - thanks Wayne [:o)]]. Anyway, I DJed there Sat nights from '87 - '92 or '93 I believe - several months before it closed and reopened as Club Euphoria.

I fill in for Cody at Subculture every once in a while when he has a gig. I'm sure I know you and maybe I'll see you at the club some night. I may even go tonight!

Later!

sorry bud, I of course meant the layout of the club and the overall feel of it...it only stayed open as long as it did because of the music...[B)]

I went from 1983 and up until all the clubs died, I didnt go as much near the end :)
I went to Spize, Reds, Thrush, 007, Malibu, Spit(before Spit rocks), Monkeys, I was never a Paris Person, and all my friends were long gone in the Voodoo days, every once in a while I'd see someone, but they were all gone.

Now there is not much out there, I went to the club in Amityville with friends one night and it was good, but wasnt the same :( I guess you cant go back, I'd rather play my records at home :)

I feel the same way a lot of times...I think I've changed as much as the scene...it just doesn't feel edgy anymore...Chris, you're out there all the time, is the energy still there?

For a long time, I hung with the goth crowd. I'm not goth but they were real cool with me. Then at Mailbu I hung with a group of girls that lived in Long beach. I dressed like one of the Lost Boys (movie). I always had on a long black trench, black everything else, motor cycle boots and I had long hair. How about you?

I hung with a new hyde park crowd and then a lot of people from baldwin, your look sounds familiar.....

I wore all black , all the time(surprise, surprise!) and I had day glo blond hair in various lengths and styles
Sometimes I carried old lady purses and lunchboxes, I went from long wool coats to MC jacket, pointy witch shoes to combat boots, skirts down to the floor to mini black skirts, i did it all....

I started at 007 in 1983, I still have the t-shirts, and then my hang was thrush(in between reds, malibu, spize, spit(before it rocked, the subway (in queens), monkeys)

I dont seem to remember the rest of you from spize, I knew some bartenders and Uncle Bob at the door , some Djs, i think I stopped going as much in 86 (I was there earlier)I did see Ministry there(Old style ministry)and I remember Halloween parties at Spize,
Anyone remember the whole world is wrong Spit new Years parties??? I used to go every year!!!!!!
At Malibu I met Peter Godwin and Tim Scott!!!!!! and I saw Tom Tom Club, Joe Jackson, Debbie Harry and other bands there
I closed many places and what a horror to see them in the light after hours!!!

Yeah, periodically we'd get raided at the original Spize and they'd turn the emergency lights on. My buddy Ford would go around pointing at people (we knew thenm all) and say "You're ugly, you're ugly...you get the point...it was always hilarious...
