Need CUE files for PSB, DOA, Devo, Sparks etc 80s/90s+ CD's

Postby Fred Taghon » Wed Apr 16, 2025 11:37 am

I sold off a big chunk of my CD collection about 16yrs ago. I kept lossless (AIFF) rips of most of them, ripped through iTunes at the time (this was before XLD (for Mac) or Exact Audio Copy etc.), so I never had CUE files (aka CUE sheets) for them.

In the years since, I've been able to confirm that my rips are 100% accurate, but if I want to burn exact copies of the original CD's on CD-R for further back-up, I need the CUE files for pre-gap information, etc. I've been able to retrieve the correct corresponding CUE files for most of them via P2P, but there are still some I have not been able to get.

Hoping some members here may have some of the following EXACT CD's (I'll include discogs links for the EXACT CD I need) and be willing/able to create and share the CUE files for them (XLD or Exact Audio Copy generated CUEs are both fine). An actual rip of the CD does NOT have to be done to create a CUE file, but if you want to share a complete rip with the Log and CUE files, that's entirely up to you - it's just not necessary for my personal purposes, since I already have the audio.

Thanks in advance for any help with any of these!

You mean those little annoying files actually have a use...

Not trying to be a troll here, I honestly didn't know what they were for before now.

Mark this as another unhelpful post by your local old fart 80s fan... I guess I should start leaving them in my rips from now on.

Good luck !

I got a laugh out of your post, because that was literally my reaction when I learned what they were for! For many years of trading rips and downloading from P2P groups, I'd toss those extra files in the trash! Most people just into casually ripping CD's probably could care less, and I don't blame em. For those that are, or have become - like me, a little more anal about ripping and back-ups, they most definitely serve a purpose!

You don't need a cue file to burn an audio CD from FLAC files. With Nero or another free program,
you can make copies of FLAC to audio CDs. You just choose the songs you want and you can
make a compilation disc or burn a full album.

I appreciate the spirit of your comment, I know you're just trying to helpful, thanks! You are absolutely correct - a cue is not necessary to rip or burn 100% accurate audio, but it is if you want a CD-R copy that is an exact duplicate of the data on the original CD. So, no, I don't NEED them, but I'd prefer to have them if possible.

Cues do become less necessary when it comes to "newer" CD's. It's rare with current new releases for a CD to be mastered with pregaps or offsets anymore, so they literally are just audio data these days.

Thanks to the kindness of strangers, I've been able to take 2 titles off my list so far! :-)
