Hey, what's goin' on in here? Apple's iPod owns and rules. It (along with iTunes) has re-energized a dismal and miserably sinking music industry and revolutionized portable audio technology. Chic styling, unsurpassed ease of use and extraordinary adaptablity, iPod is the luxury car of mp3 players.

Sony did the same thing with the Walkman, yeah I paid $140 for the first model FM (only) receiver back in 1981. But that was it for me.
Everybody jumped onboard in no time and offered same quality sound and more features for a fraction of the price.
Same deal with Mp3 players.
Ipods are still GOUGED pricewise.

<br>I was just catching the end of today's Tour de France stage. How cool is it that some are taking to the iPod with an iMic attached for their interviews?! It's hilarious to see an iPod being stuck up to an athlete's face, like "dude, is there something you want me to listen to??"
LOL Figures..
What's next, The 'iDildo'? [}:)][:D][;)]

As far as the mp3 watch goes, I thought at some point there would be an mp3 watch, but I'm really surprised it's not a digital display instead of analog -- really surprising, given all the electronics involved, and then on top of that you have 3 moving hands (second, minute and hour)

Hey, whatever 2nu. It's like I said, what would you rather get around in a BMW or a Hyundai? There is simply no other mp3 player that is easier to use or to learn to use. Period. And that's worth every penny.

The iPod's success is predicated on it's unintimidating interface, pleasant aesthetics and fashionably chic factor. A powerful marketing campaign that delivers on it's promises delivered by a high profile - alternative - hip - edgy company and you've got all the makings of a successful product. Don't scorn the iPod dude. It's pop cultural achievement is only logical.
If paying a cachet premium for brand iconography and claiming it is the only product worth buying, so be it.
Not to mention possibly getting mugged or worse, killed for one (no white head set for me thank you!)
Guess it just comes down to how comfortable you are with the technology (despite the inherent limitations).
BTW: Hyundai has garnered a QA reputation that surpasses many a 'luxury' brand. [;)]
I said it before, I'll say it again, I've been running for 20 years now -- the 1GB ipod shuffle is the best portable music player I HAVE EVER SEEN -- and I looked at many, including the Nike PSA Play 120 that I bought and ran with for the past 5 years.

The ipod mini looks good and is near the same weight (a friend that I run with gave his kid one, so I compared the 2 side by side) but the mini is a hard drive, where as the shuffle uses flash memory, thus no moving parts and less "to go wrong" factor.

The only way the ipod Shuffle could be any better if it was smaller (half it's current size) and held 2 or 4 gigs -- and I'll bet you at some point it will -- technology always seems to go faster, smaller, cheaper eventually.

Yes indeed Dan, on all points! And you could be sure that iPod will only get smaller, better and faster. Apple has a long, illustrious history of delivering cutting edge technology with Bauhaus like functional form and elegance.

THE WORLD's SMALLEST MP3 PLAYER!!!

A 24mm cube with memory size ranging 256meg-1meg is certainly one of th next must-have products (especially for me!!).

YUP Apple all the way!!! But I still hace to say the "Shuffle" could use a display. Perhaps, Apple's waiting to add that as a new feature.
