Six Billion monkeys
Monkeyin' around

1. six billion monkeys
2. swaying to the beat
3. the sun is shining
4. it's a picnic
5. theme from six billion monkeys
6. swaying to the beat(radio mix)

In early 1986 while living in vancouver, canada, rodney formed the band six billion monkeys.they began doing gigs around vancouver and as part of the city's 100th birthday performed live on both local and national television.
in the summer they released "the sun is shining",folk rock with a hint of punk, which produced by paul hyde gained massive airplay.
they continued to work with paul hyde and in 1987 recorded their double single, the pomp and splendour of "six billion monkeys" coupled with the 60's mod influenced "swaying to the beat".it was then decided to gamble and move six billion monkeys to england and in june 1988 the single was released.
while at first it seemed the gamble had failed interest from spain emerged and soon "six billion monkeys" was a hit in spain and across europe.
rodney returned to vancouver and teaming up once again with producer paul hyde recorded ,perhaps unknowningly predicting the future, the soul searching"it's a picnic".this was never released for after his return to england rodney was involved in a very serious road accident which while not ending rodney ended SIX BILLION MONKEYS.
dedicated to those
whoever and wherever you are
who have kept the dream alive

Hey Paul:

Are these official, or "less than official" releases?

BTW, drop me a line, I have something you might be interested in.

Hi David,

Every cd i bought from cd baby in the past was an official release, so I'm pretty sure it's official. (Will send you an e-mail)

I can also vouch for that. Plus, they always ship out goods quickly- in my case, so far.

Hi Rodney! Nice to see you posting here. SIX BILLION Thanks(how can I make it lesser than that?[:D]) for the e-mails and for sending me a rare pic of your band. I appreciate it. I'll post it here as soon as I can for those who are interested...

Btw, I love the CD. So, guys, if you haven't purchased it yet- go for it! It's worth every penny (would've been nicer though if there were bits of info or pics thrown in the sleeves, but I ain't complaining![:p]). My top 2 favorite tracks are "Six Billion Monkeys" and "It's a Picnic". The rest are also pretty cool!
