Pretenders!

Pretenders!

Pretenders first two albums have been remastered and rereleased through Rhino records. Both are now 2 disc sets with demos, live material and outtakes. Sound quality is excellent even on the live concert stuff.

I LOVE these two albums. I just hate buying duplicates of stuff I already have. But these two have some great added material.

Well, now that's the beauty of downloading individual songs from the online music stores like iTunes isn't it? Take what you want and leave the rest!

I picked up both Pretenders reissues. I think it's cool that they are designed like miniature record sleeves, unlike the bulkier Cure and Depeche Mode reissues. Brings back memories of playing the original lp's...I think these were my very first new wave album purchases back in the day!

I got the re-issue of the first Pretenders album, and don't know if it's just me, or if the vocals on "Precious" sound really brought to the front of the mix. This is the only song I noticed it with, though.
On the second disc of bonus material, the song "Porcelain" has been edited, which I find surprising coming from a company like Rhino. I think this is the first time I've experienced them doing such a thing, and can only surmise that it's the same version of the song on the Pretenders box set that they released as well. Overall, though, I think this is a re-release definitely worth having.
