Just surfed into this site, after a Google search of "MV3". I've often wondered over the years what happened to some of the folks involved with that show. Sometimes, it seemed like I was the only one who remembered it (as another poster here admitted)! I'm just sorry I joined this conversation a year too late!
BHS82: You are a scholar and a gentleman. You've done a great service by putting those vids up on the web! Unfortunately, I've only been able to get the "Opening Sequence" one to work, but I'll keep at it.
A few random thoughts on the subject:
* Richard Blade worked at KROQ until about 2001. He left to become a scuba diving instructor in the Virgin Islands! He decided to return to L.A. a couple of years later, but shamefully, KROQ would not have him back. He currently has a weekly show on L.A.'s "Star 98.7" (a Clear Channel station!). More importantly... my wife just bought me Sirius satellite radio as an early Xmas present. So I immediately tuned to Sirius 122 "First Wave", and who do I hear but Richard Blade! He has a DAILY show on First Wave, and it's awesome. It turns out that former KROQ DJ's Swedish Egil and Freddie Snakeskin ALSO have shows on First Wave (there may be more KROQers on Sirius, but I haven't had time to find out)!
* Richard Blade has said many times that he considers Terri Nunn to be one of his closest friends, so they obviously had an amicable parting.
* My sister (who turned me on to the show) and I also disliked Karen Scott as a host. In fact, we couldn't understand why they NEEDED three hosts, since Richard Blade was obviously the draw. Oh, and we also hated how they cut away from the videos to show the dancers! Remember, this was our only way to see music videos at the time. Now, I would give anything to see these episodes in their entirety, dancers and all.
* Around 1988 (I'm just guessing here), David Maples became the host of a cool little music video show on UHF channel 22 called, appropriately enough, "Video 22". This would have been a couple of years after Richard Blade started "Video One". At about this time, I really started to wonder what ever became of Karen Scott... and I still do.
* I, too, am blown away to find out that the show went national. All these years, I assumed that it was L.A.'s own little niche show. How cool that people in other markets got to be exposed to this type of music.
* Who was that one Mod guy on MV3 who didn't really dance, but just got down on his knees and twisted back and forth?!
Here is a great website that shows the KROQ "Top 106.7 Songs" of 1980-1990:

There are a couple of internet radio stations that broadcast these playlists, but I've already gone on too long here. Reply here or email me for more info.
It's been great reminiscing about my favorite era in music! Thanks everyone.
