Danse Society - Looking Through CD

Danse Society - Looking Through CD

Has anyone else bought this? What an awesome album but one of the worse sound quality cd's I have ever bought. Did they take a badly used cassette tape and transfer it to digital? My favorite song on there, which is called "Sunset Gun" is so bad in terms of sound quality that if you record it on any self-made cd compilation, you would have a hard time listening to it. Has anyone else notice this? Really sucks because this is some great material.

Hey Sean,
I have to agree with you. The sound is not great. As usual we like the same song. Sunset Gun is awesome. I could not wait to get the cd because of that song.

I will do that. It's just funny because they spent a lot time making the artwork look really nice and everything. They could have asked around if anyone had a better source.

Wow, that's really disappointing; I was considering picking that one up. It's kind of like with Cherry Red - if they release something mastered from vinyl, and Scott does the vinyl remastering, I'll buy a reissue of theirs, but the last Classix Nouveaux they did was just horrible.

So far no response but I was blatantly honest with my comments so they might have taken offense to it.

Any hope for improved Eyeless in Gaza? Some of the Cherry Red CDs look to be out of print.

Has anyone picked up the remastered versions of the Darling Buds - Pop Said & Chapterhouse - Whirlpool from Cherry Red CDs? If so, how is the sound quality. Thanks

I actually don't even mind a few record pops as long as the overall sound is good. When it sounds like it comes from an old overused cassette tape, that's when it gets me annoyed.

Scott,

You are amazing! You mean, that all the remastering you did was not paid for your time and trouble? If this is the case, you have my utter respect and gratitude. Unbelievable!!!! Your work deserves full royalties! We fans are so fortunate to have you on our side. You are truly phenomenal and your talents, priceless!!!!

Thanks Scott. Some of those out of print Eyeless in Gaza CDs seem to be fairly hard to find for a reasonable price, so I would think there is some demand. It's particularly disturbing because Eyeless is a "Cherry Red" band. I can see why Cherry Red might not care about Danse Society or whatever, but I think their heritage bands deserve better treatment.
