I watched FTaRH a couple of years ago. There are many funny parts, most of which have been mentioned above, but the movie is a lot more serious than I had remembered. For all its beyond-PG content it actually has quite a moralistic message: Teenage sex isn't really all that great and there are all sorts of bad consequences. Stacey gets no pleasure from her encounter with the 26-year-old stereo salesman in the dugout or with Mike Damone in the poolhouse. Following her unpleasant trip to the abortion clinic she ends up wiser and happier in a chaste relationship with that nice guy whose name I can't remember.

The talented Cameron Crowe wrote the book that movie was based on. This movie is much more than your typical T&A teen movie. I think most of us can relate to each and every character. I know my high school had at least one or two students who reminded me of the characters in Fast Times. Hangin' at the mall, fast food, stoners, bad girls, good girls (who get in trouble), nerds, scalpers, athletes, goofy teachers, etc. Sounds like your average american High School in the 80's.

My favorite seen was if jimie came in and said kid dinamite and made his dad mad but he was being a joker for fun. That seen is always making me laugh, my brother sais it out loud and it still is funnier than anything I will know.

No, it's just some dipshit troll trying to have us believe he mistook the TV show "Good Times" for "Fast Times". Clever, huh?

Where are you? I'm in Vermont but I might be up for a road trip. I hope you're sure you want to call me out because I'm crazier than a shithouse rat and I just may take you up on it.

I think English is not his first language, and probably not his second or third. Just ignore it.

Hey Lectric Motors, what part of Vermont are you? I used to lived in Plattsburgh, NY and went to Burlington often. They had some good clubs there (Hunts) and Pure Pop Records, man that was a great place to shop in the 80s.

Used to just head out on weekends in the fall and hit the back roads in Vermont, no destination, just took any interesting road looking for scenery, covered bridges, foliage. Some day it would be great to get an old country home there, although I would enjoy it more if I could do it now while younger.

Loved the Ben and Jerry's plant and the free ice cream! Saw my first reggae concert at Flynn Auditorium about 1984.

Grunch,
I grew up in and currently reside in Rutland. I lived in Essex Junction for a few years prior to moving back here. That's weird, I do the exact same thing - just drive and get intentionally lost. But I guess if you don't have a destination, you can't really be lost, right? Did you ever get a chance to go over Lincoln gap between Bristol and Warren? Gorgeous area.
Pure Pop is still going strong. Upstair's Records has now become Vinyl Destination but you can still occasionally find something good there. the Flynn and Nectar's/Club Metronome are still open and the new place to see good bands (Higher Ground) closed for awhile but has now re-opened so there is still a thriving music scene. Moving Units and Secret Machines are playing Higher Ground on 1/30 - can't wait!
Good luck in your goal to move here. My goal is still to move to Vegas and gamble professionally but if I end up here, I'll be happy with that too. [:D]

Can't remember if I have been through that gap, I just know I just about found every back road in Vermont. Love the rolling hills, mountains, quaint towns with village greens and white churches, the cows, the barns, all the covered bridges. Of course, route 100 is crowded during foliage, I go off and on it as needed. Rutland is not too far I think from Whiting? where I had friends. Montpelier is also very nice, hell Vermont is nice no matter where you go. Even getting to Burlington, we either took Grand Isle ferry, or sometimes the longer ferry from Port Kent right into Burlington. I pretty much have always considered Vermont my favorite state. Amazing right across the lake is the high tax wonder of New York state. We make it back up for the fall every few years, usually flying into Boston, then up to Rockport, Mass, then make our way over thru New Hampshire, Vermont, across to Plattsburgh, we go to Lake Placid, our customary music shopping trip to Montreal.

Yeah, it's an unbelievably beautiful state. I have to admit though that I'm not a big fan of foliage. I travel alot for my job and slow drivers are a constant source of irritation. Seriously, the friggin' trees look the same at 60 mph as they do at 40 mph. It is impossible for a street legal motor vehicle to move fast enough so that the trees blur. Trust me, I have tried. I'm thinking of starting a service where I would take a picture of a tree at peak color, remove 5 leaves from it, and mail it free of charge to anyone who agrees to stay the Hell away from MY roads.
My favorite times of year here are right after foliage and right after a snow/ice storm. I drove by a swamp today that lots of ice covered dead trees and stumps and fog rising up from the water. The most eerie and beautiful thing I've ever seen.

And yes, Whiting is about 25 miles from Rutland.
