I would give it a swerve if i were you if you are thinking of buying it. You could do better job yourself than they have done with this as it sounds terrible.

this is really a tragedy. Been waiting years to get all these tracks in digital. Just got the Mandy Smith CD released this past week by Cherry Red, and the sound quality is great. It's too bad they can't be consistent.

That Mandy Smith remastered reissue is awesome. I love the photos inside and they throw in a bunch of the 12" versions.

I also ordered the Princess and Lonnie Gordon CDs but they haven't arrived yet. I'm really psyched that they're releasing some Stock Aitken Waterman stuff that I never thought would see the light of day on CD. Especially the Princess album.

Finally picked up a copy of this disc, and while the album tracks themselves do sound muddy and lack dynamics, I think some of the bonus tracks fared better. In fact, the dance mix (bullseye mix) of Target Practice has more dynamic range on this CD than it has from my vinyl 12" which was burned to CD. the Some People 12" sounds slightly better on my vinyl, not to mention, on this CD the left and right stereo channels are REVERSED from the way they are on the original recording!!!

This is the worst sounding cd i have bought in along time. Sad, I thought their Stephen Duffy release was bad.

I will occasionally pull this CD out just to remind myself how horrible this release was

Thank god I read this whole thread, as i was about to go pick it up @ the record store. You guys just saved me $18 bucks. Is the production on this that shitty? Should I avoid it all together?

Yes. You'd be better off finding a vinyl LP and ripping it yourself. Already sold my copy off.

It makes you wonder if people actually listen to these before they are released to the general public and if they do they must have cloth ears.

They ought to be shot for this release, i bought a rippled cleaned up copy and it's better than this.. still pissed. The 12" mixes sound better but that is only saying because they came from the 12" itself.

Who cares if the release is a lil muddy or tinny or if CR used direct from vinyl mastering.
It's nice that it's just on cd.
I'm sure most of the buying public does not care, they are just happy this release is on cd now.

<br>Does anyone else have this new reissue? Mine just arrived, and I have to say I'm pretty disappointed in the sound. I have some of the tracks from various compilations, CD-single b-sides, etc., and they sound better.

The sound is very muddy to my ears -- much like the latest Paul Young No Parlez reissue. (The original No Parlez CD -- the original UK one -- was so tinny that I keep thinking I've just gotten used to that sound.)

Anyone else have this? Am I the only one that thinks it sounds this way? Please help me establish that I'm not crazy (about this particular thing, not in general).

Sounds bad to my ears as well. In fact the bonus tracks sound just marginally better and i have to agree mojowkn the tracks from this that have appeared on other compilations do sound much better. The No Parlez remaster was a disaster they even managed to cut a part of Love Will Tear Us Apart out. I wanted the album remastered they way ive always known it with the 12 inch mixes and the long version of Sex which is nowhere to be found on this remaster. If people wanted the single mixes they could just have bought his singles compilation.

I agree - I used to be, for a very short while, part of the "I'm just glad it's on CD" crowd, but I eventually came to my senses and realized that mentality is pointless. If I can do a better transfer from my personal vinyl (and I don't even have any of that cleanup software), why bother with a manufactured CD if the audio is terrible? I knew from the second I heard this CD that it was awful. I should write CR an email to complain, but my time is short these days. I just won't buy any more of their reissues until I read enough positive feedback first, from trusted sources. Hence my reticence towards their upcoming Animotion discs.

I have the Japanese CD that was released years ago, they certainly could have gotten their hands on one of those to make this CD.

I will not get this release. I initially was going to for the bonus tracks and to have a 2nd copy of this release, but no way after all these reviews.

CR should be ashamed of some of their releases.

You think most of the buying public are just happy to have it on cd do you Well look here http://www.amazon.co.uk/Some-People-Bel ... 357&sr=1-1 Also i think you are missing the point when people are buying this crap sounding vinyl transfer for £10 when they could do a better job themselves and put it on a blank cdr. In fairness a lot of there reissues on the whole have been good but this is shockingly bad.
