Apart from appearing on other compilations it doesn't state wether it's the 12 inch mix or not which makes you wonder when they have put this on it Art Of Noise - Close (To The Edit) (Album Version). Will be giving this a miss as i have everything on it and as ive mentioned before that second disc looks crap.

wow. you never heard the 12" version of Wishing? If you are a fan of that song, you'll love it. It's just phenomenal. It's actually been on quite a few compilations, including A Flock of Seagulls compilation.

Have these songs been on any other comps:

The Cure ?Why Can’t I Be You (Extended Mix) 8.10
Visage ?Pleasure Boys (Dance Mix) 6.57
Pete Shelley ?Homosapien (Dance Version) 4.32

Are these close to the originals, or are they all over the place? what I mean is...do Alot of these mixes, stay true to the originals, or are they mixed by some DJ who does the song(s) in his/her's interpretations?

The Cure - Why Can’t I Be You? (Extended Mix) http://www.discogs.com/Various-Back-To- ... ase/587162

Visage - Pleasure Boys (Dance Mix) http://www.discogs.com/Various-Hardest- ... ase/190150

Not sure about the Pete Shelley track. The Cure track was remixed by François Kevorkian so you cannot go wrong there and Pleasure Boy dance mix is good as well though on that hardest hits compilation it ends rather abruptly i dunno if it's supposed to do that.

It actually clocks in at 9:36 on the 1991 The Best of A Flock of Seagulls CD.

No quite sure what Homosapien (4:32) is. The 9-minute dub version is on CD.

And yes that's how the Pleasure Boys (dance mix) ends on the 12" single.. great ending [8D]

So without any in-depth research it appears that Associates "Club Country" is the only one from Disc 1 and 3 combined that has never been released on CD. Now that's what I called VALUE [xx(]

The Pete Shelley track is the A side of the single - the dub version is the B - don't think it's been on CD before...

Yeah, Homosapien has had too many mixes floating around. The version on this disc is probably the same one that's on the Oglio Flashback New Wave Classics disc, which runs 4:32 and I consider the 'alternate remix' because I don't know where it originated. The "Elongated Dance Party Dub" is on "Classic Alternatives 3". and I FINALLY found the original dance mix from the A side of the 12" on the compilation Devolution 1, which you can get on amazon still.

I do actually own the original 12" single and can confirm this Dance Version (runs around 4.30ish) is the A side and looks like same appears on Electropop and Elongated Dub is the B....

Oh dear... I just bought this set and first thing I listened to was 'Homosapien'... alas, it has clearly been mastered from vinyl, given the pops that appear within a few seconds of the start...

OK, perhaps the master tape has long since disappeared, but what I fail to get about when there is no option but to master from vinyl is why record companies cannot do the bleeding obvious thing of tracking down several copies of the vinyl - so that if, say, the first 10 seconds on one copy is prone to clicks and pops, then at least they might get another copy that is free of that problem for that part and splice between them.

Is that too obvious a solution?

so how's the quality on the other stuff? Have you listened yet?

You know what's funny, I have found that if I listen to a CD through itunes on my computer, I will very often hear little pops and clicks that SOUND like CDs that were mastered from vinyl, but when I play them through my regular stereo, none of those faults exist. I don't know if it's just my computer or what, but I'm convinced that itunes does not properly read CDs during playback and actually is causing digital glitches. I know for sure that if I use any other applications on my computer while listening to itunes, both CDs and MP3s skip.

I am playng this now... but no one should be surprised at the use of vinyl. All the previous volumes have relied on vinyl. I object, of course, particularly when they claim 'never on CD before', but technically, they're just 'taped' from the vinyl, which anyone can do in their own home and the statement suggests CD quality. Anyway, I'm prepared for disappointment...
