talk about milking it. I have so many DD boxed sets and compilations I pretty much have everything worth having on this release. Does anyone know what the difference is between the night version and the night mix of Planet Earth? I probably have both of them and don't even realize it.

You can find Planet Earth (Night Mix) in the CD 1 from Strange Behaviour compilation(double Cd with mixes from 1981 to 1993).

to some extent i agree. but i DO like these 2 cd things because everything gets gathered together in one place and makes other things superfluous. i'm always trying to consolidate, finally getting my collecting mania under control a few years ago. i want less stuff, but i want everything too. ;-)

I'll be glad to get Careless Memories video on DVD. I think it's my favourite DD video. They look to be having a really good time in it.

The other studio sessions will be interesting to hear.

Shame, as I was looking forward to this. Not paying money for lossy crap. Maybe I'll luck out, and find the bootleg [:D] -> http://www.discogs.com/release/1995015

Thanks Astronaut2005. So the Strange behaviour mix is different than the first singles box set? I have both of those compilations and I also have a "night mixes" CD. Do you know how the two versions differ? I think I heard once that one of the night mixes (not sure at this point) was a total rerecording of the song. Is that the difference? One is just extended and one is a rerecording?

LOL, the dude has both versions but is too lazy to listen to them to find out what the difference is.

These two are the curious ones:
Girls On Film (Extended Night version) (5.43)
Girls On Film (Night mix) (5.41)

(Original Girls on Film Night Version clocks in at 5:29.)

I wonder if the time listing isn't wrong for the two versions of Girls on Film. There ARE two versions--one runs 5:30 and one runs 5:45. Both Strange Behaviour and The Singles Box 81-85 have the 5:30 version. I have the longer version on numerous various artist 12" compilations. The longer version has the camera sound clip intro for a couple of bars like the album version, which is pretty much what makes the version longer. But the 5:30 seems somewhat crisper and cleaner, the 5:45 seems a little muddier and sluggish at times. Also, there are some noticeable differences in echoes on Simon's vocals at points, and reverb on instruments, etc.

It says that the Night Mix is a previously unreleased version, and I'm assuming that Extended Night Version is basically the same as the Night Version, so it's probably the same as what you're talking about.
