Does anyone else remember the "Blackwater" novel series from the spring/summer of 1983?
That summer my best friend and I spent our evenings dancing at Tonight's the Night or Skoochies and our days either sewing clothes while "high" on Dextatrim or slicking ourselves (I said ourselves, not each other, guys) up with baby oil, stretching out in the sun, and reading this horror series. We went nuts between the monthly release dates. I recently tracked all six of them down on alibris.com and realized on re-reading them that they were extremely TAME.
In any event, according to this press release from SciFi, it will soon become a miniseries.
Blackwater
Based on Michael McDowell's (Beetlejuice, Nightmare Before Christmas)
popular Blackwater novels, this 4-hour miniseries is a Southern gothic tale
of the terrifying rise to power of a Water Witch. Secretly marrying into a
wealthy and influential Southern family, she uses her powers to destroy her
family's enemies. The multi-generational supernatural thriller will be
produced by Mandalay Entertainment (Sleepy Hollow) and The Orphanage, in
association with Sony Pictures Television.
