this question is about the origins of the old spanish folk song " la bamba. a couple of days ago i was listening to the radio at work and somehow the topic of the origins of the song came up. i always thought that the song was of mexican decent, but a budy of mine says it's from somewhere in south america???? if someone out there knows for sure the answer please help me, thanks. djsoss [8D]

The best I can come up with is that it's based on about a 200-year-old Mexican wedding song from the Veracruz area (of Mexico).
