at some point they have to realize that people only want to see them play their hits, like at rock at rio.

no one is really interested in their latter songs or albums,
and morten can never hit the same notes or sound like he did in his prime.

listening to the live albums is painful at times.

sorry if i'm harsh, but the bands from the 80s need to move on and realize they are done,
which i thought the had done earlier, but money speaks a lot.

they have become just another 80's retro dinosaur.

Sorry but that's all a pile of crap. They may not have been very successful in America but they were almost everywhere else and every album they released since their comeback in 2000 has been excellent.

i would choose their 2nd or 3rd album (even though they weren't that great), over anything they have done since 2000.

"Foot of the Mountain" was one of their best, if not their very best. a-ha has nothing to apologize for, and a-ha never lost anything; not their artistry nor their following. They remain one of the world's most beloved and relevant bands of the past 30 years, and one of America's most unjustly under-appreciated. Anytime they're up for releasing new material together, I'll be shelling out my $20.

If things were so great, and they were doing so well, why did they break up and retire.
they had been running into the ground with their music.

Face it, everybody has to pay bills, and if they need money, that's the only reason they are back.

Dear Negative1,

(Very appropriate moniker, by the way...)

You don't know what you're talking about. a-ha's last album and tour was a MAJOR success worldwide. Look it up.

The album sold more than a half-million copies worldwide, was certified platinum, and charted in the top 10 in many European countries. That is no flop.

The accompanying tour sold out shows in more than 70 cities worldwide. That is a mega-successful international tour.

That is actually benchmark longevity, a rare achievement for any band.

you didn't answer the question.

they quit and retired. period.

it doesn't matter how well they did on their farewell tour.

the point is, why did they quit.

My point, Negative1, is that they were NOT running their music into the ground, as you put it. They ended on top of their game, and decided after 6 years of silence they still had more in them as a band. Maybe after this next album and tour, they'll want to put an end to it again. Maybe not. There isn't any money in getting back together unless you have a public following that will spend their money to support what you do next. They clearly do.

their first, and best album sold over 10 million worldwide.
compared to that, i would hardly call anything they've done recently a success.

i do like the band, and have all their albums and singles.

but i just think their best work was in the 80's, nothing since then has come close.

Negative1 you are talking utter bollocks and for someone who is supposed to like the band you have a funny way of showing it. If you claim to have all their singles and albums then why did you keep buying them if they didn't live up to their first album :?: The band have sold 55 million albums worldwide which obviously wasn't achieved by just their 80's output and as for them reforming i am delighted as i'm sure plenty of other people are as well and at the end of the day they can do what they want nobody is forcing you to buy their stuff are they :?:

i collect music from a lot of bands. whether it is good, bad, or average is another issue.

i buy them as a collector most of the time.

a-ha's memorial beach was actually pretty good, but since then everything has been average or subpar.
i keep hoping they might get better, but so far, no luck. maybe a few songs or remixes are good, but thats about it

10 million from their first album out of 55, is the majority considering it was from one album. its easy for fans to only see what they want, and not face
the fact that band is nowhere near as popular as when they first started, and will never be as popular or successful again.

which is why they retired in the first place.

I'm ecstatic about this comeback. I saw their final three shows in Norway and while I'm a little bummed to no longer be able to say I saw the "final show ever" of my favorite band, I can't wait for the new stuff and to see them live again. It's criminal that they're only known for "Take On Me" in the U.S., which IMHO is one of their weakest songs.

-1, it's pretty simple: if you don't care about a-ha, don't buy their new album or see them live (more tickets for the rest of us!). You'll probably have a tough time trying to convince fans not to care about their comeback, though, which seems to be your intention.

i'm not trying to dissuade people.

i'm just pointing out the hypocrisy, and attitudes that people should just accept that the band is just doing it for money.
and for people to stop trying to make it sound like they are doing as well as they did in they in the past. or that their
albums or tours did as well either.

I'm reasonably sure the members of a-ha have more money than their grandchildrens' grandchildren will ever be able to spend, but that's beside the point. You have absolutely no idea WHY the band is making a comeback. If you think any band that gets back together after breaking up is only in it for the money, well I find that sadly cynical. Personally, I don't give a wet slap why they're doing it, I'm just glad that they are. They could call their world tour "a-ha Cash Grab 2016" and I'd gladly see every single show I could make it to. I love everything the band's ever put out, you clearly don't, more power to ya. To each their own. But perhaps you could rain on someone else's parade for awhile?

Interesting track listing, it seems very complete. Is there any direct link to the track list? Any release date? I didn't find it on aha-com.
