Play

I've only heard one song, "Red Movies" and I'm just blown away by it. It's just one of those songs (like Duran Duran's "Chauffer") that I could hear every hour on the hour and never get sick of. Anyone have MP3s of the rest of Paly's stuff available, or a CD I could trade for?

And more importantly, who is Play? I know it's one guy, but who? And where did he go after this? From his discography it looks like he really only recorded 5 or 6 songs.

Here's a discography I came across:

Chasing the sun

12": 1982 UK Survival SUR 12 008 **
This little Girl
Deeper than Blue
Chasing the Sun

You don't look the same

7": 1983 UK Survival SUR 7 015
You don't look the same
Erase the Memory

12": 1983 UK Survival SUR 12 015 **
You don't look the same
Erase the Memory
You don't look the same (De-Mix)

In my mind

12": 1984 UK Survival SUR 12 022 **
In my Mind
Red Movies
In my Mind (Remix)

Red movies

LP: 1985 UK Survival SUR B 1 **
Red Movies
Erase the Memory
Deeper than Blue
This little Girl
Chasing the Sun
You don't look the same
In my Mind

Play was actually Wayne Kennedy with a bit of help from David Rome (Survival Records founder) and P.K. Edgely (I think). The Red Movies ep is fantastic. In fact there is only one song I would consider good, the rest are great.

thanks Eight6.

Wonder what he's up to now, couldn't find anything on the net. Was there a CD release of "Red Movies"? I thought I saw a scan of a Japanese disc.

If so, I'll have to try and track it down.

I'd be surprised if it made it to any official CD release. Vinyl copies are very hard to find.
