FX - Cruising In My Car

I just picked up the self-titled EP by FX out of Australia on Almacantor Records, it's AWESOME!
On the first song though (Cruising In My Car), there are very brief hesitations in the sound at approximately 1:09, 2:38 & 3:30. I don't know if I have a bad CD or if these are artifacts from the source used to master the CD.
Can anyone who owns this disc tell me if their copy "skips" around the same times? Or if their copy plays clean.

Mine is also defective - Almacantar needs to know about this from anyone. I think it must be their master - a bad one, un less it is all the CD's. I am contacting them, hopefully everyone will so they can fix this. It is clearly NOT WORTH A DIME as it sounds right now with the defects.

Well, If your CD is spotty Grunch, then it is most likely the source tape. The insert of the CD does state that it was mastered from DAT. The DAT tape must have the defects. The momentary drop-outs are annoying, but the music is still great, I can learn to live with it.
On a different note, I just pulled out the 1985 FX album "Personal" and gave it a listened. Strange how it is nowhere near as good as this (earlier?) EP. I thought there must have been some reason I didn't take the time to convert it to mp3s, now I know.

It won't be fixed. Heard from Almacantar, they said they had a choice to not release it at all or release it with the glitches that are there. That is their decision. I just think they owe customers on their site a heads up abouth the known obvious defects, and allow the customer to decide if this is acceptable. It is not enought to say it was mastered from the SAT, whatever, when you know it WILL include obvious glitches. A simple up front honest assessment to customers would allow us to decide if we want to spend the money. The glitches are much too noticeable for me to consider that I own this CD.

I really don't understand your comments Grunch. If you don't like the way the cd is released, do it yourself. Put up the money out of your pocket and do it the way you want. In my opinion we need more labels like Almacantar. This guy is re-releasing things on cd that would never see the light of day again. Is the Fx perfect, no but at least it is available on cd at a fair price. It is not defective. There are a few drop-outs on the first song. If you don't like it, ask for your money back.

Also the Jump Incorporated is awesome. Great 80's Aussie stuff.

Just wondering if Grunch could post the song...just to hear what the problem is with it.

The way I look at it, I expect a commercially released CD to be in ideal condition. Having 3 glitches in one song would be a distraction for me. If, as Grunch says Almacantor knew this before release and went ahead with it anyway, they either didn't do their homework during the mastering process or they didn't care about their final product quality.

I realize this is a small label and is releasing items major labels aren't interested in, so a disclaimer about source material defects shouldn't be too much to ask for; much like remastered from vinyl products should be clearly labelled as such.
