Let's talk about those albums where around half the tracks are instantly recognizable. Heavy radio airplay. Iconic, high profile, eighties music achievements.

The Cars s/t. As important as the Stooges, Dolls, Modern Lovers, Ramones, Patti and Blondie were, I'd bet it was probably this album that kick-started new wave in the US. And yes, it was considered new wave!

I don't know man. If I look at it really critically (and hey, what's a good discussion if everyone agrees), I can't say I'd put in the likes of Black Celebration, Speaking in Tongues, or With Sympathy. "Resound" to me comes in all-caps...RESOUND!...to sound loudly and with thoroughly broad fame. I bet if you listed the 3rd through 5th most popular tracks on those albums, even many new wave fans wouldn't immediately be able to pick the album. Maybe it's attributable to regional differences. Yaz...no question, I don't even blink. Cars...ditto. Golden Age of Wireless...yup! Rebel Yell...like it or not (NOT!), unquestionable. Some others? Meh...IMHO.
