Small world. My band covered "Adventurers" a long, loooong time ago. We couldn't really figure out the words either (particularly the first verse, which I was never even sure actually was English), so I pretty much winged it. Everyone in the crowd was drunk anyway. [:D]
In Salem I stand
Cause military seize
When the companies vie for her favors
A lullaby means
Put the child to sleep
Let the earth move in her labors
On and on, on and on
Let her have her say
On and on, on and on
This is what she'd say,
"On a day like today
I could help you breathe
On a day like today
I could help you see
All creatures saved"
Every minute I wake
Each second I see
Our daily bread eaten by saviors
And down the dark lanes
Where another saint runs
To help the earth move in her labors
On and on, on and on
Patience is her way
On and on, on and on
This is what she'd say,
"On a day like today
I could feed your fears
On a day like today
I could make you hear
All creatures saved"
The killer has come
By river he came
To turn all their magic to reason
When the rains come down
All the palaces fall
And nature takes over for seasons
On and on, on and on
He has had his day
On and on, on and on
This is what she'd say,
"On a day like today
I could help you see
On a day like today
I could help you be
Tall, brave and strong"
We rehearsed "Hide and Seek," too, but I don't think we ever performed it (and I can't remember anything past the chorus at this point). Jeff Starrs does have a website, in case you want to try writing him. I'd certainly like to know what I was attempting to sing!
