The Boomtown Rats on eBay

I was mortified this week when I saw that "The Fine Art of Surfacing" CD by The Boomtown Rats had a final bid for $105.00. Granted, the CD has been out of print for a while, but usually fetches an average of $40-$70 when it's up for auction (I think $77 was the most I ever saw it go for previously). It's not like this is a rare item to show up on eBay, there is usually someone selling it at any time you go back there. Is this kind of price really worth it? I can't imagine paying that kind of money for any single CD, no matter how much I like the band and wanted the music. On Bob Geldof's website, they have said how the back catalog is due for re-release, but this talk has been going on for a while now with nothing to show for it. I have made my fair share of CD purchases on eBay, but when the bidding gets silly like that, I drop out of it and wait till next time. How do some of you feel about the prices some of our faves get on eBay (I'm sure there are a few of you out there who've participated in an eBay auction). I know no one's twisting anyone's arm to bid for the item, but I just find it criminal that that's what this kind of price has come to, just to get the music you like so much.

That guy who spent $105 on the Rats CD was a first time buyer. Maybe he let his enthusiasm get the best of him. Sometimes people from outside the U.S. & Europe who can't get some cd's easily run up the prices.

I do the same thing, fritz! lol! I'm always amazed at how much "Beat Crazy" by Joe Jackson goes for. I mean, if there's one disc that is in desperate need of remastering, that is the one.
