"It's a fine day" remixed & mutated twice?

okay, so I'm listening to Jane's "It's a fine day" from that littlehits blog site.

I swore I heard it before, twice.

So let me see if i get this right:

Jane - "It's a fine day" -- > Opus 3 - "it's a fine day" -> Orbital - "Halcyon".

Have any other songs been mutated this much? Jane's cover is a simple acapella song, Opus 3 put techno-synth to it, then Orbital did the same thing, with even less original lyrics.

Orbital just took the vocal samples and created their own track around it. Miss Jane's version isn't just acapella. There's lots of remixes for this release.

Can't think of any other songs that have changed that much (three times). The Cranberries' Dreams was covered by Dario G (renamed to Dream to Me) which has a euro/trance style to it. Duran's My Own Way (twice). The Shamen - Progen/Move Any Mountain and Make it Mine (both recorded twice). Depeche Mode - Photographic (twice). Lots that are twice ...

To further muddy the waters, Miss Jane isn't even the original Jane (!) but rather an Italian dance outfit fronted by a female lead for publicity purposes:

To clarify, the original acapella version by Jane was not a cover...it was the original! Released in 1983.

Opus III didn't put a synth to the original - they actually re-recorded it (with singer Kirsty Hawkshaw, who later worked with Orbital!).

Orbital essentially sampled the Opus III version in "Halcyon."

There was an A Guy Called Gerald remix of the ORIGINAL Jane version of "It's A Fine Day." It is currently available (along with the original version and other Jane tracks) on the CD "A Fine Day...and a Brilliant Evening: Cherry Red Rarities 1983-1985."

Kirsty Hawkshaw (singer of Opus III) has actually re-recorded the track as well for her "Meta Message" Cd (awesome album!).

Kirsty has also done vocals for BT, Delerium, Hybrid and Tiesto. Amazing voice and she is not hard on the eyes either. [;)]
