Mysterious Dark Dance Song

Mysterious Dark Dance Song

Postby lostgirl » Sun Jan 29, 2006 4:18 am

Hi,

I heard this song a few months ago during '80s Night at a club,

maybe one of you might know what it is. It had a dark synth pop feel

to it and it had a female vocalist singing kinda softly. I'm pretty

familiar with '80s female vocalists and it definitely wasn't

Siouxsie or Cocteau Twins. When I heard it, I remembered that it did

sound like something I had heard before. Unfortunately, I was pretty

young during the early '80s, so I probably heard it once on the

radio and then forgot about it. Any ideas?

The song youre looking for is Cities in Dust by Siouxsie and the Banshees!

Actually im being a sarcastic jerk, sorry[;)]

You have to at least remember some lyrics, even one line, but something. Can you remember anything else about the song?

It's most definitely "Edge To Life" by Recoil, from the Bloodline album.

It has to be...I was in the same club that night.

I know I'm not giving everyone enough clues to figure it out. Though I really like Edge to Life, it wasn't the song I was thinking of. As far as lyrics goes, I remember something like "She opens the door". At first I thought it was She Can't Say That Anymore by Cristina, but unfortunately it wasn't. The lyrics were sung softly and it was a song that was definitely from the '80s and was on the radio.

Thanks Everyone [:I]

This is a long shot, but:

A band fronted by Tim Kasher called The Good Life has a song titled Notes in His Pockets. It's from 2000 but draws comparisons to The Cure, OMD, Morrissey. Some lyrics:

Drunk at the bar at last, last call – my baby’s home on her night off, So I’m involved in a serious talk with a girl I had known growing up. So we buy a six; decide to split – she has a downtown apartment. She opens the door, falls to the floor, says, “I’m bitter sick of sweet and pure, take me now I’m yours.”

Perhaps it was Gino Vanelli doing his falsetto maxi-remix of Black Cars? I'm sure Philly must have this on heavy rotation.

Just kidding. Maybe it was Danielle Dax?
