Double Sniff! Triple Sniff even, Rotator, "Theme for Great Cities" is also one of my all time favorite New Wave songs. Its also perfect for remixes, I am surprised no one has done so yet...

I never did buy Silver Box. It was a bit too pricey for me for what was on it. I wouldn't have minded the demos so much but I'm not usually into live tracks. When they did the remasters, they should have made them double disc sets and put the demos/live/remixes on there. Aren't those PSB remasters the best collection you've seen?

The Themes CD releases seem like a bit of a rip-off. It looks like there are only a handful of true "extended versions" in each set. The remaining tracks are mostly live versions or what appear to be versions identical to those on the regular albums. Plus there was NO need to split these across 20 CDs! The total track length could easily fit on 8 CDs.

Well, they were meant to be CD single versions of the original 12". I don't know how much they were selling brand new so I can't really say if it's a ripoff or not. I thought some of the other singles boxsets I've picked up (Depeche, Duran, Erasure) were priced okay.

The best singles boxsets I've seen has to be the Erasure ones. Mute made an effort to include all the stuff that were on the commercially available releases. Depeche Mode 4/5/6 wasn't too bad either. It was a shame that they didn't re-do 1/2/3 at the same time and included everything though.

I agree about the Erasure Boxsets. The only thing that could add to those boxsets would be them adding their promo only mixes on the singles.

Blue Savannah (Out Of The Blue Mix) although it`s on RA1.
Chains of Love - (Unfettered Mix)
A Little Respect - (12" Vocal) etc

Not sure about its availability though

Yeah, I meant to mention that remix....but I don't think that was what our boy was after....

new techno-y remixes (of old songs) kind of suck...this one, (Fila Brazil) in my opinion is not the exception to that rule...

I hear you Patrick ... that is one the greatest NW instrumentals ever! The Simple Minds were in top form during that 80-83 period. It's amusing/ironic that they broke the American ("what do WE know about this world anyway?"[:D]) market after their greatness was already waning.

It was sampled in 2001 on the club hit "The Real Life" by Raven Maize (essentially, producer Joey Negro). Also sampled on that track was Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" (from which the vocal "Is this the real life" was lifted). Amazon has sound clips fromn the single.
