Sean, Hubert Kah Information Please

I own Hubert Kah - Sounds Of My Heart & some singles. If I was to buy another one of his albums, what would be the best one to buy?

"Tensongs" is just as good as Sounds Of My Heart if not better. It's a little darker but pretty much the same style. Very synthy, very new wavey sounding. The cover of the album itself is pretty cool too. It's harder to find than the other albums but if you are persistent, you'll find it. "Goldenen Zeiten" is also outstanding but it's all in German. Angel 07 and The Picture, german versions, are both on there. The Best of Dance Hits cd is also because you get all the long versions including the long version of Angel 07.

Avoid their first two albums, which are in German, like it's the plague. I tend to ignore that those albums ever existed. [:)] The self-titled cd, Hubert Kah, that was released in 1996 is mature and beautiful. It has the heavier (I'm avoiding using the word "breakbeat") beat in vein of Enigma but no Gregorian chants in there. You should probably pick up this one after you pick up the others. Their latest album, I couldn't get into, isn't bad but it's just nowhere as good as Hubert Kemmler can be.

Goldenen Zeiten is definitely good, probably their second best, but I don't know about Tensongs being as good or better than Sound Of My Heart. The opening song on Tensongs, "Pogo The Clown", has to be one of the most embarrasing synthpop songs I've ever heard. The rest of the album is decent, but Sound Of My Heart is easily their best work..in my opinion, of course.

The self-titled album is from 1996. It's excellent but you have to remember it's their most mature album. It does not have any upbeat songs.

Tensongs is excellent and I had a problem with Pogo The Clown when I first heard it too. I did read somewhere though that the song had a story to it and there was totally different meaning to what we are hearing. The problem is, if you take it for what it sounds like, it will offend you. The lyrics were not written by Hubert Kemmler and I don't believe Hubert or the rest of the guys from Hubert Kah intended for that song to have a bad meaning. Anyways, if that song offends anyone, I suggest you skip it and listen to the rest of the album which is outstanding. Lonesome Cowboy should have been the first song on the album anyways. My best example is The Cure's "Killing An Arab". Everyone who listens to that song thinks it means anti-arab but in actuality, it is totally the opposite.
