Godley and Creme

I assume most of us came from the "You mean Godley and Creme were musicians before they directed music videos??" generation. (Just slightly younger than the "You mean Paul McCartney was in a band before Wings?" generation--an overused joke in almost every 70's/80's sitcom.)

But I have to tell you I've been recently getting into the underrated art rock band 10cc. When the band split in half like the Titanic, it has become increasingly clear to me what side of the boat I was on. (ie: the Kevin Godley/Lol Creme side)

I recently got Freeze Frame and Ismism from them and their music is even better than their videos! (I mean, how can you not love a song called "I Pity Inanimate Objects"?[:D]) These are the most brilliant new wave albums I have gotten since the 80's! Any other fans here? If not, I assure you with all my heart, YOU NEED TO CHECK THEM OUT!! I've been driving my neighbors insane blasting these two albums over and over and over again. But hey, at least I stopped playing Kate Bush's Aerial...[:p]

I have been a LC & KG fan since their 10cc years and have followed both them and 10cc since. Consequences had some very notable cuts but as an entirety you have to have alot of time and patience. Art rock as they were originaly categorized and were more comperable to the likes of City Boy rather than supertramp who they were most often compared to. I started losing interest in lc kg right after the ill fated trevor horne produced "history mix" although they did have a few minor release after but without as much lustre. They had alot of input in multiple ways from the Alan Parsons Project (designed the cover for " a turn of a friendly card" to Paul MCCartney (video production and paul did a small guest appearence on "L" doing hand claps) to their production (too many to mention). I still love these guys.

Ditto. They could have easily been marketed as another Styx-type corporate lite-rock group, but to their credit never let it happen. Credibility in the music business deserves some respect.

Thanks all for your input. I just ordered "L/tracks from Consequences" cd. I have the History Mix video--it says on the tape it's 60 min. long when really it's only about 20 minutes. What's up with that? If you are in the right state of mind [;)] it can be mindblowing. I liked what I heard off of it but keep in mind I like Techno...
