Whew. I saw the title of this thread, and I thought Todd Rundgren was fronting yet another band. [:o)]

I like a lot of New Music from the late 70's on. Avant garde punk/post punk, New Wave, New Romantics, and industrial/experimental music. There was SO much going on. It took me all these years to catch up with the music-explosion from the 80's. Great to do so, and still as glad to capture music which is on the list.

New Romantics were 'doing' a nice part in my life. While I was living in Melbourne Australia, I went to a club Inflation, where they had B;itz nights on Mondays. Unforgettable...
Visage, Magazine, Ultravox, Japan, Thompson Twins, Spandau Ballet (especially their first 12"only), A Flock of Seagull, Blancmange, Culture Club, Heaven 17, Human League, Bowie's Cat People, some Cure, Bill Nelson, etc. etc. Great fun.

So interesting. Also Kraftwerk's The Model (...and she's looking good), fitted s perfectly in the New Romantics club nights. I think now, looking back, that Kraftwerk definetely made their contribution to the NR's in their 'fashion'. Which could be discusses ofcourse...but it was in the air and musical atmosphere at the time.

Los Nino's (...) forgot the rest of their name (...) was popular in the Dutch NR/Gothic crowds. Also like Kowalski was, which isn't NR in itself...but it fitted in that alternative dance-scene pretty well !

In yhe Netherlands there are venues/clubs where they organize some 80's danceparties and all these bands/musicprojects come along again. I was surprised how many young people were dancing at that music...as if it was THEIR youth and recognizable past. Was nice to watch and being there. (actually organized after a Kraftwerk concert at 013 in Tilburg, The Netherlands.

On the complete other side, I saw a docu on the Detroit hiphop/dance/techno/house-scene that Kraftwerk was THE inspiration and re-discovery for lots of 'black' (alt.) dance-music. Amazing how inspirational bands can be...also for new and next generations to come !!

I was quite the little "NeuroMantic". Check out the pics in the profile-- I looked like what'd happen if Alison Moyet had been hijacked and tag-team face-painted by Steve Strange and Siouxie Sioux whilst blindfolded. HA!

I think New Ro has changed my dressing style... wearing clothes a bit more bright and elaborate than before (I looked quite emo, without any intention). Anyway, achieving a NewRo style adapted to our times is something really difficult.
I'm not sure if I'm doing this thing of New NewRo for girls right but it's fun.

There were a couple of books released a few years ago about the NewRo/Blitz scene. Anyone have these? Are they worth buying?
