They had a lot of new wave tendencies. Synth, poppy songs, outfits etc... Loved em'!!

All I remember really liking about Loverboy was the blonde in the "Hot Girls In Love" video.

I can't even believe I used to sit and watch videos for hours on end in the 80's. I had a surplus of time when I was a teenager (sigh).

I liked Loverboy's first two albums quite a bit. While they probably aren't what we all think of as New Wave, their heavy synth sounds mixed nicely with the New Wave and Power Pop of the early 80s. I like almost anything with synths in it. [8D]

They were always more AOR to me -- Canada reigned supreme in that category back then. "Turn Me Loose" and "Take Me to the Top" are some of my faves, with cool synths to boot; "The Kid Is Hot Tonite" and "Working for the Weekend" were decent/passable, howe

Loverboy was just about as New Wave as Foreigner and Journey were.

Yes, the Metropolis soundtrack is quite excellent although the Benatar song on the CD is slightly changed from the one in the movie. I forget exactly but it's not as good somehow. We played the movie in a pretty much continuous loop at the video store I

I think they were originally kinda/sorta marketed as new-wave - - that cover on the first lp looks more new wave than hard-rock to me.

As for the music, I don't think so. I like it now more than I did then, kind of in a cheesy/reminiscent way. It's g

"More pop-rock/ AOR"....I would agree. it's quite funny how stuff I abhorred back then is kind of fun to listen to now, in a cheesy sort of way.

What about other pop-rockers with synths/the clothes...Asia ( "Heat of the Moment"); whoever else

Styx kinda fall into this category with Mr. Roboto, don'tcha think? Not New Wave, but Rock that crossed over into Pop.

I'm Canadian, and I love the Loverboy. There is just SOMETHING about that headband, lol. "Hot Girls in Love", not yet mentioned,
