Coolest New Wave guitar solo?

This one might not get so many responses, seeing that 'new wave' and 'guitar solo' are practically mutually exclusive, but the 'signature starting notes' and 'bassline' threads got the old brain chugging.

What's your favorite guitar solo?

For me, it's a toss-up. Either the guitar solo on 'The Great Curve" by the Talking Heads (which I believe is actually played by nonTalking Heads member Adrian Belew) or Wall of Voodoo's "Ring of Fire."

The lead at the end of Generation X's "Promises Promises" is effin' terrific. I hate guitar solos and that one gives me chills every time.

I couldn't agree more. Scott was VERY underappreciated. So was Farndon and Chambers for that matter. Chrissie Hynde was such a presence that it was easy to overlook just what a great band they were musically. I always loved the simplicity of the arrangements. They HAD to be good, because there wasn't anything for them to hide behind sonically.

Being the huge Alphaville fan that I am, I'll have to mention
"Dance With Me". The guitar riff in the beginning of the song just gives me chills. The Empire remix extended version really shows off the lick better.

I'll also agree with someone else on Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell".

For great new wave/alternative guitar solos I gotta go with The Cult's "Wonderland", "The Phoenix" and "Love".

Steve Stevens did do some great work with Billy Idol (and later, Vince Neil) though.

Anyways, my post above was supposed to be for the Greatest Signature Starting Notes thread but I couldn't find the edit feature so those two songs make me look like an idiot...[:I]
