I'm doing some cd-r comps for driving, out of my lp's (sorry, I don't use mp3). One of them is a first volume of American New Wave. Just for curiosity, do you consider all them new wave??? In the difficult cases, what about the indivudual song recorded? I'm doing the second one, with much more unknown peoples, such as The Nerves or Josie Cotton... Oops, I know A Flock of Seagulls were from Liverpool, but it was in the USA where they hitted and grew as a band... The list:

Nice compilation of artists. Essentially, it is new wave even if there are a few artists I do not consider new wave-Warren Zevon, Tom Petty. However, they complement the new wave bands fairly well. This is a good set of bands. I hope you list your sec

This is just MY personal opinion, but I wouldn't classify these as New Wave:

Dwight Twilley
Tommy Tutone
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
Warren Zevon

Again- just my opinion. If YOU like them, by all means include them in your CD-R. You have to plea

This is just a thought (by all means do what you want), but why not save AFOS for an English CD, and try some SSQ or Missing Persons.

Thanks for the answers. The doubts were essentially what you mainly mention, Zevon and Petty, but the two songs flow really well in the comp. I am surprised noone mentioned Jim Carroll as non-nw. As for Missing persons, of course they go in the second vol

Actually, it can be done very nicely even without a computer, providing you are using mint LP's and have cleaned them well, and have a good stylus and system. I have converted about 400 80s LP's so far, all without a computer, and man, they sound pretty f

SSQ only released one LP in 1983 (simple synth-pop). A song from it was feature on the last NNT (I knew the song, but I got wrong anyways [:I]). I like "Screaming In My Pillow" [:p]. The lead singer (Stacey Q) went on to be a one-hit-wonder with the song
