Extended Version(s) of Safety Dance

Postby TragicMagic » Wed Mar 08, 2006 12:13 pm

Hi Gang

Does anyone know if 12" (or other extended versions) of Men Without Hats' classic tune "The Safety Dance" is readily available? I'm not having much luck and have been looking in Second hand shops etc for years.

If its not easily available, does anyone happen to have it?

Any help much appreciated!

Greatest single of all-time.
I always liked the single version slightly better, but the extended dance version from Rhythm of Youth is great. You can find that CD all over eBay these days...

Hutter!!!! Thankyou!

This is the exact version I have been after for years.

Thankyou 1000 times! I love this version of the (already great) song.

No problem. If only someone would find Michael Cooper's "Quickness" radio mix for me, we'd both be happy campers right now. Oh well.

Here's the U.K. remix:

I found it interesting that this CD single was a german release of a canadian artist featuring a U.K. remix - and the original 12" mix is referred to as the 'Original Aussie Version'. [?]

Thanks Juan. Soudns confusing!

Have grabbed.. will listen when back at home.. it will be interesting to note the differences between the 3 versions I now have.

I own the song 4 or 5 times from various compilation cd's I have purchased over the years.. all of which are the same radio edit!

Just thought I'd throw this out there...since no-one's yet mentioned the version of Safety Dance from the movie BioDome. Interesting "updated" mix, with edgy 90's guitars replacing most of the 80's synths. There was a CD single released around the time of the movie, and it still shows up on numerous compilations.
