madchester hands down! oasis and space have great material but the vs happr mondays, stone roses, paris angels, hollowmen, the high, emf, my jealous god, etc is no competition. happy mondays losers? good lord their one of the top bands of the 80's. maybe

More a fan of the bands you mentioned, but when you look at ALL of the Brit pop options, probably more a Brit pop person.

Another band that merits mention is Ned's Atomic Dustbin.

The Soup Dragons, BTW, started out a bit earlier than most of the bands listed, and only later jumped on the dance bandwagon.

Madchester !

LOVE the Stone Roses, and the Happy Mondays ( I did not know any of this gossip you guys know) made some FUN music with an edge. And i LOVE LOVE LOVE St. Etienne ! Not to mention 80's faves Human League and 70's faves Joy Division.....

I'm torn because I got a promo copy of that first Stone Roses album on cassette back in 1989 and it changed my life. Yeah, in the interest of nostalgia I gotta go with the Manchester scene. It seemed to liven music up for a while.

I am going to have to go with Brit Pop it has a dash of Mod in it plus Blur my 6th favorite band ever had the main character from Quadraphinia guest volcals in "Park Life" and Brit Pop did less drugs also. Madchester consumed the whole chemist shop while

Probably side with Madchester. Inspiral Carpets "Commercial Rain" is a fantastic song. Charlatans UK album "Some Friendly" is a classic.
