British vs. US new wave

Wow... I thought it would be swung the British way.. but maybe not that much.

I too voted British. For some reason my brain tends to associate New Wave with British Music and American Music of the same era as Rock/Pop. I know its not necessarilly the case.,. maybe its something about greater exposure of some bands over others down in Oz.

Other than the UK and USA, what other countries put out great New Wave bands?

I'd say that there are also German and Australian famous bands.

Australia: Midnight Oil, INXS
Germany: Camouflage, Cetu Javu (they also sing in Spanish!!)

Ah, we also had our share of good new wave bands in Argentina: Virus, Soda Stereo, Los abuelos de la nada, SUMO.

Australia: how about Flowers (Icehouse)
M.Oil I'd label pretty heavily with Rock.. yeah.. early inxs is more N/Wave.

How about New Zealand?!: Mi-Sex, Split Enz etc..

Australia and New Zealand had quite a few New Wave inspired groups and performers.. however very rarely would they have been exported.
