Their first two LPs are great and are a good starting point, though for some reason I've always found the CD re-releases hard to get.

Their best track though was the fantastic "Perspective". Wouldn't bother too much with their material after this though.

Aww man! As a person who's been collecting all of the YMO releases and solos and off shoots and reaching close to 175 cd's. I can proudly declare that these artists are eclectic electronic geniuses.Ryuichi Sakamoto, Haruomi Hosono and Yukihiro Takahashi. have recorded with all members of Japan and with Bill Nelson, Adrian Belew,Iggy Pop,Plastics, Thomas Dolby,Eno,David Byrne,Virginia Astley,Youssou N'Dour,Roddy Frame (frontperson for Aztec Camera),Caetano Veloso, ... In 1992, Sakamoto composed the score of the opening ceremony for the Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona. Try "Technodelic" for main YMO and Sketch Show for post to start. And if I was to list Japanese new wave or synth pop or Jpop that are noteworthy my list would be pages.

One of my all time favorite bands. They can be considered legends along with Kraftwerk, Bowie, etc. Check out songs like Ballet, Multiplies, La Femme Chinoise, Rydeen, Technopolis, Solid State Survivor. They have tons of great songs. They are awesome live too. I have several of their dvd's and they are cool to watch!

Ditto to oneno and Sean's sentiments. One of my top five favorite bands. Yukihiro Takahashi is my Japanese god. I enjoy all of his solo stuff as well. If you're a YMO fan and haven't heard Takahashi's albums "Murdered By The Music", "Neuromantic" and "What, Me Worry?", you're missing out on some of the best New Wave music ever.

The long-form video for YMO's "Propaganda" is about the coolest New Wave/New Romantic concert video ever.

Twins (Super Best Of) [IMPORT]

It's got everything on there but it may be out of print though.

Ultimate Collection of YMO 2CD set does it for me unless you really want to backtract through their whole catalog.

I also highly recommend Yukihiro Takahashi's sideband The Beatniks 1981 album "Exitentialism". It's the best YMO album that isn't YMO.
