I just came across a video for Duran Duran's "Save a Prayer." Lot's of beautiful Sri Lankan scenery. Got me to thinking about all of the tropical type scenery from the New Wave era. Seems like people were really into the whole 'jungle' thing back then. In theaters you had Indiana Jones bullwhipping his way through jungles, on TV we had 'Tales of the Gold Monkey' and 'Bring 'Em Back Alive.' The Atari had Pitfall Harry and in music videos we had 'Men at Work' singing "Down Under" near an oasis and Duran Duran doing the Indiana Jones bit in "Hungry Like The Wolf" (or maybe Simon LeBon was trying to be Pitfall Harry. I was never quite sure.)
What was the deal with all the jungle and/or desert explorer type stuff back then?
