I know, it's a fine line, and very hard to describe, this good vs bad new wave looks. I think that Nicholas Cage looks like a crappy Waver in Valley Girl. Tight black pants, a vest, a tie and some hair mousse does NOT a waver make. I looked all over for a still from the Busom Buddies show, but I cannot find it anywhere.

It's hard, lol New Wave fashion actually emcompasses a lot of influences. I'm kinda into the Liquid Sky style, myself.

Of course, it's tricky walkin' down the street lookin' like that, lol.

Also an AMAZING New Wave movie, I can't believe I forgot to mention it.

Mare idol- I knew we thought alike. But I prefer John Cusac in better off dead. Who can forget the battle on the ski slopes? 2 dollars, wheres my 2 dollars? I love that movie.

Blade Runner hands down despite my fondness for all well-soundtracked movies already mentioned. With it's humanity vs the coming biotech and computer age themes, it's the perfect start to the era.

Y'know, as much as I've laid into Sting for his solo music career, I quite like his film choices (guess I'm the ONLY one who bothered to see "Grave Indescretion").

LOVED "Brimstone And Treacle". What an amazing film and Sting seems to be channeling a young Malcom McDowell which is a good thing.

Don't forget ghosty, sting was in dune too. I remember seeing that and saying wow, Sting is in this. How did they manage to get him?

Does anyone remember a movie called, Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains? It was shown a lot on Night Flight on the USA network. It had a young Diane Lane and Laura Dern, and Paul Simenon from the Clash and Fee Waybill from the Tubes. It had elements of both new wave and punk in it, and interesting music and clothes. Smithereens was another movie that was very new wave. The Feelies did a lot of songs on the soundtrack, and one of the main characters was Richard Hell, from Richard Hell and the Voidroids. The clothes were very cool, and it even showcased some new wave clubs from the time, such as the Peppermint Lounge in New York. I loved these two movies, even though not many people saw them.

Anybody remember BREAKIN? It was a clasic. I wanted to go out and buy some cardboard and start breakin! I've never challenged someone to an electric boogie contest before.But I have been secretly studying the art of break dancing so thanks to that movie, if someone says I stole their dance moves, I'll just start doing the robot!Yeah! In your face !

You're READING my mind, Philly, I was just about to post that, lol.

In the 80's (among other shady things) my dad worked for a company that marketed "breakin' boards" they folded up and were made of laminate and they were checkerboard black and white.

It was cool, when kids would ask me what my dad did for a living, lol.

"Urgh: A Music War" was fantastic -- loved, loved loved Klaus Nomi!!

Yep, "Rude Boy" -- definitely, "Swindle" -- yep, all goodies.

HEY! I just thought of a really good one, this may be 1979 though, but maybe 1980 -- TIMES SQUARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How great was that one?!

yes it was, absolutly... Looking for it on DVD maybe latter on this afternoon I'll drop buy Aomeba and pick it up

myirwin, Blade Runner was cool, but my favorite of the sci fi 80's was Star Wars... Just kidding... for real I would have to go with "OUTLAND" it was like a High Noon in outerspace.
