Oh yeah. I kicked ass at school.

I am office manager. I literally manage an office and I hire and employ between 200 and 500 people a year to work on campus. I do EVERYTHING.
I do this 40 hours a week. And Im an accounting major at ASU.
Accounting here is hard, because we have the highest CPA pass rate in the nation.

So yeah, Im a total nerd.
When I was in high school....I took electronics engineering classes at a nearby community college...Senior year...I was building robots.
Total nerd here.
MAJOR nerd.
And 60-70% of everything I listen to is nothing but ITALO.
Had piano lessons for 12 years.
Had a social life....never.
At the school I went to they taught us French and Spanish when we were really little. In high school- I had Russian and Latin.
I wont admit it outside of anywhere-
But Im a nerd- Yu guys are the only people that know my secret.

Frayo's no nerd...he's a freakin' prodigy all grown up. Have you ever considered joining MENSA? You definitely match the criteria (you never seem to be intellectually challenged, you're eccentric, you excel with figures and languages, you're very honest with yourself, etc etc etc). I can throw you some numbers and addresses, if you're interested in finding out. The love for Italian disco is definitely a plus, kid.

I wouldn't mind being called a nerd. I don't know if I am one now, but I totally was one when I was younger.

It's all subjective though. If we have rigid standards or what nerdism entails:
I hate math = non-nerd
I love dinosaurs = nerd
I love animals = borderline nerd, yet cuddly guy
I love New wave = cool here, nerd elsewhere
I love disco = questionable taste everywhere
I love reality television = no taste whatsoever
I love the Science channel = nerd
Gets paid to talk about sex & drugs = cool

We're all enigma's wrapped in mystery... a rich tapestry....blah, blah, blah!

Tried, but didnt get it.
Im not that smart. I am really not that smart...I just have a lot of random and weird hobbies.

And my High School GPA...is pathetic.
I mean horrible...
I hated being alone all the time, so I decied to go off and be a typical teenager for a while...and completely screwed a lot of things up.
I hate that- but basically internal fears and insecurities prevented me from having a lot better of an education than I do have.
And it bothers me so much.

I honestly was a prodigy before I went into high school.

Just thinking about it while on the Lunch Break.
I hate that I cant understand what I wrote when I was in middle school. I used to know a lot. I nearly got kicked out of college when I first came here.
I used to do a lot of drugs my first year here- and wasted a lot of money I made from having an awesome work ethic. I just wanted to fit in with all the cool people, and every time I went out with people, I was the one left out.
I know it sounds like Im whining or being an attention whore- but I dont want any consideration or any pity from this. It was a mistake I made and Im over it.
Now Im kicking the crap out of Accounting and working all the time in a job that will give me a really shnazzy resume.

You two are some of the coolest people on this board, then. I know there's a couple of other members here who are engineers and mathematicians, or who enjoy those things. Man, how I envy such knowledge and ability[8D]

As for myself, I'm not a nerd; more like an underachieving outcast (still am). Yes, I did take some honours, model United Nations, and advance placement classes back in high school to pass the time. I got "A"s and "B"s here and there. I also received quite a few "C"s and "D"s in geometry, trigonometry, chemistry, and physics (those were my worst subjects in high school). I didn't even plan on going to college - nobody thought I would... not even my parents. Years later, I opted to give it a try and flipped a coin whether I would go to university to study architecture or chemistry. The coin landed on "chemistry" and that's what I did. That meant I had to go through aaaaaaall those subjects that I suck at: calculus, physics, biology, and different kinds of chemistry (general, inorganic, organic, biological, and, finally, physical). You bet there was a lot of hair-pulling and head-banging come midterms and finals[B)][xx(] Suffice to say, I gained even more respect and appreciation for those who choose that course of study.

Nerd? Hmmmm. Maybe. I'm sure lots of people see me that way.

I'm quiet. Shy. I read a lot (at least three new books a week is what I shoot for). I spend my Friday nights at the library--for fun. I love school and think up reasons to go back. I like to learn. I like to know things. I like science. I love classical music. And jazz, and new wave, and cheezy '80s pop. I was an honor student in high school and college. I play the trombone and French horn and was in marching band through high school and into college. I love Mac computers and gadets. I worked in the newspaper industry for 11 years before moving into magazines late last year. I like to copy edit for fun. I can't dance and I'm sort of a social retard. I have a very dry sense of humor. And on and on....

Does this make me nerdy? To some people, yes. I quite like myself, however.

XXX, I started off studying sciences in college, and had to take… oh let's see… Organic Chemistry… twice… Animal Phyisiology… twice… Genetics… twice. Do we see a common theme here?[:D] Let's just say I was an expert of dropping a LOT of classes half-way through the semester…

Yeah. I'm the master of C+ averages in chemistry and biology.

I should've went to art school from day one instead of trying to fit into a career plan (medicine? dentistry? what was I thinking?) that was never meant to be.

I still have my Organic Chemistry text book, because for some sick reason, I'd like to revisit it.
